Radio and Modern Music Genres

Music is a very important part of our life and entertainment. There are several music genders for all the tastes. Radio and music have become inseparable since the beginning of radio’s history. Music is as wide in variety as peoples taste, making it an infinite creative power. It is constantly evolving thanks to the exploration of new rhythms, styles and sounds.

Modern music stands on very diverse music genres. Jazz is one of the most important music genres of the 20th century. It originated around the 1900s in African American Communities of the Southern part of the U S, based on African and European musical tradition. It is hard to define Jazz because of its variety of styles and influences, but it is well known for its focus in musical swing, and the importance of spontaneity and improvisation, having a deep relation to individuality and the personality of the musician.

New Orleans’ music played an important part in Jazz evolution. Some of the most popular early Jazz musicians are Louis Armstrong, Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton and Joe “King” Oliver, among many others. The most common jazz instruments are the saxophone, trumpet, piano, trombone, clarinet, double bass, drums, and several others.

Another important music gender that helped to define modern music was Rock music. It is a genre of popular music that was developed in the 1960’s. Rock music has its roots on the rock and roll of the 1940’s – 1950’s. It was heavily influenced by rhythm and blues and country music. Other important influences of Rock music are blues and folk, jazz and classical music. It is centered on instruments like the electric guitar, accompanied by bass guitar and drums.

It have evolved into a enormous amount of styles and is one of the most popular music you can hear on the modern radio. Modern rock includes heavy metal, punk rock, blues rock, folk rock, country rock, jazz rock fusion, progressive rock, alternative rock, grunge, indie rock, and many others.
